Saturday, April 24, 1999  enroute to Cayenne, French Guayana.

Hello All,
Here we sit in Mother Natures washing machine, the wide open Atlantic that is. Seas aren't to organized today, rather mixed up and choppy. And we have a two knot current running against us. Most of the night our wave heights ranged from 6-8 feet, with a maximum of 22 knot wind. Because it hit us right at the nose, the STARSHIP bounced her way through it. During the day  the seas calmed down a little, the main comfort is that the wind is now hitting us more abeam so the stabilizers can do their job.

Pics never show the motion of the ocean...  It looks so calm...

It seems that the crew grows closer as a team while spending less time around each other. During a long passage like this, most of us are sleeping, reading,  watching a movie or dealing with some stage of sea sickness and you don't tend to see them that much. The crew has to trust each other to be responsible on their watches and take care of each other if sick or tired and this is where the closeness and respect grows from.

Thanks for your participation in our journey. Much more later.

You might notice that I do not feel that good myself right now.

Take care,

Angelica
