Monday April 5, 1999 enroute to Puerto La Cruz,
Venezuela
Hello Cybersailors,
we still have uplink problems, but it looks like we have a technician on the way from
Caracas on Tuesday. Hopefully that solves our problem, Just to fill you
in: We are uploading through Inmarsat B High Speed Data Connection. That is
probably the most expensive Internet connection you can get. At 64 kbit/sec we pay
12 US$ per Minute or 720 US$ per hour. It total we (with a lot of help from
our Sponsors) spent about 15000 US$ per month on Satellite connection time.
All to give you a chance to follow us on our trip. Right now the transmission is
possible, but the data throughput is very poor. In other words it takes forever to upload
the webpages and we get disconnected quite often. And that in fact just costs too
much. We do hope for your understanding.
Here is one pic for you to enjoy !

This is how most Venezuelan beaches look during the Easter
Weekend !
Talk to you tomorrow (hopefully) !
